The 2006 Cambridge Reunion

The 2006 reunion was held in the Arundel Hotel, Cambridge, and
a good time was had by all in spite of the sudden and untimely death of
Fred Gooch a little over a week prior to the reunion. We missed Fred and
Annie and remembered them both fondly at the gala dinner. We also
remembered Tom Bateman who died earlier in the year and, of course, our
former President, Alan Hyde, who is in good physical health but is sadly
in a home suffering from Alzheimer's. We were delighted to have Mike &
Zena Ware with us on one of their rare visits from their home in Canada.
Following the reunion, Zena and Mike set off on an exotic cruise or two in
an effort to spend their children's inheritance before returning to
Canada. The weather for the reunion was warm and pleasant and most members
spent some time at the IWM Duxford and then in Cambridge city and its fine
shops, as well as on the city's tour buses and the Cam river punts. We
remembered absent friends and presented Jean McColl with an unusual piece
of glassware and Mac with a bottle by way of thanking them for all their
hard work in making the 2006 reunion such a success. |
